In this lesson, we introduce a variety of typical tapas dishes and the essential vocabulary needed to describe them.
Clear photos accompany each ingredient, and the class is packed with opportunities for conversation, including a rating activity, a restaurant translation roleplay, and a balloon debate about restaurants. -

In this lesson, we tackle two tough spots for Spanish students: fun vs funny, and the elusive /ʌ/ sound. After some warm up speaking tasks, student do targeted listening tasks to help them distinguish between the /ae/ and the /ʌ/ sound.They'll then practice producing these sounds through various tasks, including a "pronunciation journey" activity, then put this into practice with a set of engaging discussion questions.

Let's Get Comfortable
Level: B1-B2 - Intermediate/Upper Intermediate
Words like 'vegetable' or 'Wednesday' with 'missing' syllables are tricky for Spanish speakers off, as they often try to pronounce words exactly as they’re spelt.

Level: B1-B2 - Intermediate/Upper Intermediate
In this lesson, students will master the "want someone to" structure in English.
They'll then participate in a fun group speaking task where they choose the right person for different services (e.g., "I want ___ to babysit my kids" or "I want ___ to drive me to the airport").
Finally, they'll personalise the language by sharing sentences about themselves, using the structure. -

Barcelona City Council have taken the dramatic decision to erase a bus service from Google maps, just to avoid tourists using it.We think that the Guardian news article makes for interesting reading and discussion, especially on the wider issue of mass-tourism.

The 'Hi Mum' Scam
Level: B2 - Upper Intermediate
Using a Guardian news article about arrests made in Spain, and a BBC news video as the foundation, students will test their comprehension, expand their vocabulary related to scams, and share their own experiences with fraud. And, all this while gaining exposure to real-world English! -
This Lesson Plan is So Good
Level: B2 - Upper Intermediate
Students watch part of a video of Javier Bardem answering typical ‘getting to know you’ questions (eg where did you grow up? what do you do? how did you learn English?’) before answering the questions themselves in pairs.
They then go on to practice ‘so and ’such’ (with an FCE Use of English part 4 style task), before even more speaking! -
No More Putting Off Phrasal Verbs
