ESL Resources for Teaching Spanish Speakers
Are your students used to receiving scam phishing text messages? An imaginary parcel which needs collected, an important message from their bank - that type of thing?
Scam e-mails and messages are becoming ever more present in our daily lives, so we thought they would make a great basis for a news and speaking lesson.
Using a Guardian news article about arrests made in Spain, and a BBC news interview with 2 victims of this scam, students will test their comprehension of fast informal spoken English, expand their vocabulary related to scams, and share their own experiences with fraud.
This lesson is always popular with our students, as it not only allows them to share personal stories but also encourages a broader discussion on the impact of online crime in today’s world.
