ESL Resources for Teaching Spanish Speakers

We’ve found that ALL Spanish speaking students, from A1 or C2, struggle with prepositions in English.

We’ve pitched this lesson somewhere around the middle, and we’ve done our best to cover of the biggest preposition pitfalls for Spanish speakers - related with, depends of, in TV, married with, in the sofa, take care about - all the big hitters!

The lesson starts with students talking about their experience learning English. They then go on to do some correction activities to raise awareness of the most common preposition errors. This is followed by either a domino printable, or, a quick game of Wordwall.

And, most importantly, the lesson ends with plenty of speaking questions so students can use the correct prepositions in conversation.

This is a perfect lesson for a B1 class, but we’ve also had lots of success using it with B2 learners, especially those who have great fluency but struggle with accuracy. This lesson is a favourite of ours, and we hope it becomes one of yours.
